We care about the people of our community and ATLAS is here to walk with you on your journey.

Christian mentoring is a Christ-centered relationship where a more mature believer walks alongside someone seeking to grow in their faith. It’s about encouragement, guidance, prayer, and shared wisdom — all grounded in God’s Word.

Through regular connection, the mentor helps the mentee navigate life’s challenges, discover their God-given purpose, and grow in spiritual maturity. It’s not about having all the answers — it’s about doing life together with Jesus at the center.

Whether you're seeking direction, support, or simply a deeper walk with Christ, mentoring can be a powerful step in your journey of faith.

Here’s a breakdown of what Christian mentoring usually involves:

1. Biblical Foundation

Mentoring is modeled in Scripture—think Paul mentoring Timothy (2 Timothy 2:2) or Jesus mentoring His disciples. It’s about passing on faith, wisdom, and practical life guidance.

2. Spiritual Growth

The primary goal is to help the mentee become more like Christ. This includes:

  • Developing a consistent prayer life and time in the Word.
  • Learning to listen to and follow the Holy Spirit.
  • Growing in the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).

3. Accountability and Encouragement

A Christian mentor offers:

  • Accountability: Gently challenging the mentee to live in obedience to God.
  • Encouragement: Reminding them of God's promises, love, and grace through ups and downs.

4. Life Guidance

While spiritual growth is central, mentors often help with life issues too—relationships, career decisions, handling trials—always with a biblical view.

5. A Safe, Trusting Relationship

The mentor-mentee relationship is built on:

  • Trust
  • Confidentiality
  • Openness
  • Mutual respect

6. Long-Term Vision

Good Christian mentoring encourages the mentee to eventually become a mentor to others, creating a ripple effect of discipleship (2 Timothy 2:2 again—"entrust to faithful people who will be able to teach others also").

Why It Matters

  • Spiritual Growth: Mentoring helps us become more like Christ through prayer, Scripture, and accountability.
  • Support & Encouragement: Life can be challenging. A mentor is someone who listens, prays, and walks with you through it all.
  • Discipleship: Jesus modeled mentoring through personal relationships — it's how faith is passed on and deepened.
  • Kingdom Impact: When we grow in Christ, we’re empowered to love, lead, and serve others more effectively.

What to Expect

  • Regular Meet-Ups: These may be weekly or bi-weekly, in person or virtual — whatever works best for both.
  • Shared Faith Journey: Discussion, Bible study, prayer, and life-sharing — all centered on Christ.
  • Confidentiality: A safe space to be honest, ask questions, and seek God's direction.
  • Mutual Growth: Both mentor and mentee benefit and are shaped by the Holy Spirit in the process.

ATLAS OF WEST CENTRAL MN & HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OF WEST CENTRAL MN are WORKING TOGETHER TO BUILD HOPE FOR OUR SAFE HARBOR PROGRAM FOR HOMELESS FAMILIES!!

We are thrilled to share an exciting opportunity to expand safe, stable housing for families experiencing homelessness in our community. In partnership with Habitat for Humanity, we plan to move and complete construction on this donated home, allowing us to expand our impact to homeless families.

At this time we are looking for monetary donations, in-kind donations, Prayer Partners and volunteers to help prepare the home for Safe Harbor families. There will be opportunities for many hands to make light work as we get the house ready. House moving is quite the process!!

We would like to invite anyone who would be interested in being a part of this project to a informational meeting to learn more about Safe Harbor and how it runs. We will have several to choose from. APRIL 24 at 2:30pm, May 4 at 6;00pm, or May 27 at 2;30pm at ATLAS.

If you would like to volunteer for this project, we have a volunteer meeting set up for April 23 at 6pm at ATLAS.

Our Goal: $275,000 Already Raised: $145,000 Still Needed: $130,000

We need your help to make this vision a reality. Your support will help cover:

• Land acquisition • Moving the donated home • Construction and completion costs

ATLAS’ Safe Harbor Program currently provides transitional housing for families with children in a rented house in Willmar. This opportunity is such a blessing for ATLAS and the families we work with. Transitional housing is a short-term program designed to help families move from instability to independence by providing safe, supportive housing while they rebuild their lives. Our program is specifically for families with children and lasts one year, giving them time to grow and prepare for what comes next. During their stay, we teach important life skills, work with each family to understand the root causes of their challenges, and identify the barriers that have been holding them back so we can help them overcome them. Families pay minimal rent, which helps them learn responsibility while still being supported. We also provide opportunities to introduce or deepen their relationship with Jesus, offering spiritual encouragement alongside practical help. By the end of the program, families are better equipped and confident to take the next step in their journey, whether that’s renting their own place, buying a home, or continuing toward long-term stability.

WE NEED YOU!!!

Thank you to all of you who have supported or have come alongside ATLAS in some way. Most people walking through our doors are hurting in one way or another and just want to be heard, seen, loved and met where they are at. Our goal is to collaborate with as many Churches and Christ following individuals as possible so that our Mentees can grow in their faith, become solid Christ followers and become active members of area churches. We strive to be the bridge to the church. Would you take a pledge to help us?

This is what we are looking for:

Prayer- Prayer is one of the foundations of ATLAS. Will you actively pray for ATLAS, the staff, the mentors and the mentees? Will you stop in to our prayer room and pray over the hundreds of prayer requests?

Mentors- Would you consider talking to some of your friends, family or church family about becoming a mentor or volunteering through ATLAS? Or if you are not yet mentoring, would you consider becoming one? We train, equip and give ongoing support to our mentors.

Awareness- Will you help spread the word about ATLAS and what we do? Many people still do not know about us and how we help our community. Will you share our events and fundraisers with your circle of friends, family, co-workers and church family? Word of mouth is our best ally.                                                                                                                         Mentees – If you know someone who needs a friend, someone to talk to, wants to grow in their faith, is lonely or just having life struggles, will you refer them to ATLAS?

Support- If you know someone who is looking to support local missions, will you tell them about ATLAS? Will you tell your missions team at your church about ATLAS? If you have the means to help and would like to, would you consider giving a monthly donation? If you are estate planning, would you consider ATLAS? If you are in need of Christian gifts will you stop by and shop at our ABIDE Boutique inside the ATLAS office?

Thank you for your continued support and helping build God’s kingdom, it really does take a village.
